Peter Peters, 86, Former Resident Passed Away

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian church at Worthington, Minn. for Peter (Pete) Peters, 86, who died Friday at the Fauskee Nursing Home at Worthington after a long illness. Mr. Peters, who was an auctioneer in the Worthington area for nearly half a century is widely known.

Mr. Peters was born in Butler county on September 3, 1877. On June 17, 1903 he was married to Miss Dena Doyen at Wellsburg, where he was with a meat market for the next four years. The couple then moved to Bigelow where Mr. Peters began his career as an auctioneer and five years later they moved to Worthington. Mr. Peters was a resident of the Worthington area for 52 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Aileen Watson of Worthington and Mrs. Phyllis Welch of Redwood City, Calif., four grandsons, Jack Watson of Worthington, Minn., and David and Mark Welch of Redwood City; Peter Welch of Concord, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Jennie Kelso of Worthington, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and 13 brothers and sisters.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wellsburg Ref. church cemetery. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was in charge.
