Wessel Haack passed away on December 17, 1962, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. He was born on March 26, 1889, in Beaver township, the son of Meyel and Lillian Loning Haack. He reached the age of 73 years, 8 months and 22 days.

Mr. Haack attended schools in Grundy county and also one year at Wartburg college, Waverly.

On Nov. 23, 1911, he married Martha Meyer. To this union three daughters were born; Hazel, Mrs. Boniface Buskovick of Rock Island, Illinois; Neola, Mrs. Thomas Flessner of Tucson, Ariz.; Harriett, Mrs. Jake Jaspers of Wellsburg. He greatly enjoyed his three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

On April 16, 1905, he was confirmed in the Salem Lutheran church near Stout, Iowa. He later transferred his membership, and became a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

On June 22, 1947, his wife Martha passed away and was laid to rest in the church cemetery.

On October 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Vina Schmidt.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, his first wife Martha, his four brothers, Corniel and Joe, both of Parkersburg; Frank of Freeport, Ill.; and Herman of Wellsburg; three sisters, Bielda, Mrs. Ed Boethe, who passed away in Germany; Sara, Mrs. Harm Van Hauen of Parkersburg; and one small sister, Marie.

He is survived by his widow, Vina; three daughters; 6 step-children; 3 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Froemming of Parkersburg; and one brother, Meiner of Webster City.

Funeral services were held in the family home Thursday, Dec. 20, at 1:00 p.m. and later in the Wellsburg Reformed church with Rev. George C. Poppen officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the flowers, memorial gifts, food and other acts of kindness shown them.
