Mrs. W. Geerdes Dies At Cedar Falls

Funeral services for Mrs. Wayne (Viola Merle) Geerdes, 56, of 421 Lincoln Street, Cedar Falls, were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Dahl Funeral Home at Cedar Falls. The Rev. Homer Larsen officiated.

Mrs. Geerdes died at 3 a.m. Saturday morning at Sartori Memorial hospital in Cedar Falls after a lingering illness.

She was born on November 6, 1911 in Wellsburg, the daughter of John and Hilka (Meyer) DeGroote. She married Wayne Geerdes on December 19, 1940 in Bethany, Missouri. They came to Cedar Falls in 1945.

Survivors include her husband: two daughters: Mrs. Michael (Vicki) Hileman of Fayetteville, North Caroline, and Nancy at home; a brother, Alfred Meyer of La Juanta, Colorado.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister.

Interment was made in the Reformed Church cemetery at Wellsburg.
