Mrs. Henry Maas Died Last Sunday
Mrs. Henry Maas died at her home in Wellsburg last Sunday. She was afflicted with cancer. She was hospitalized for surgery last July and was operated upon for a brain tumor which was malignant. She would have been 51 on her next birthday. The Doyen funeral home arranged for the service.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church with Rev. Peter Larsen officiating. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Obituary
Mrs. Maas received her education in the local grade school and graduated from Wellsburg high school. On January 4, 1935 she was married to Henry Maas. This union has been blessed with one daughter and two sons. After their marriage they first made their home in Wellsburg, then in 1945 they moved to a farm north of Wellsburg, then seven weeks ago moved back to Wellsburg.Mrs. Maas was baptised at the Second Christian Ref. church, Wellsburg, Iowa. She has been a long time communing member of the St. Paul's Evan. Lutheran church and interment in the St. Paul's Evan. Luth. church cemetery.
Mrs. Maas is survived by her husband, Henry, Wellsburg; a daughter, Barbara, Mrs. William Fisher, Marshalltown; two sons, Gary, Eau Claire, Wis.; Harry, of Wellsburg; one sister, Esther, Mrs. Dave Kasha, Riverdale, Ill., two brothers, Willard Ross of Wellsburg; Richard Ross of Wellsburg; her step-mother, Mrs. Dena Ross of Wellsburg; two step-brothers, Wayne Meyer of Waterloo; Herbert Meyer of Dubuque; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
