Rites Tuesday At St. Paul's Lutheran For Mrs. C. Muller

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Doyen Funeral Home, and later in St. Paul's Lutheran church, for Mrs. Chris Muller Sr., 81.

Mrs. Muller died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient 10 days. Death was due to uremic poisoning.

Rev. Eric Biederman officiated at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Music for the service was furnished by the church choir, and Mrs. Henry Maas was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Ernest DeNeui and Mrs. Elmer Finke.

Casketbearers were Fred Bergman, Ernest Koch, John Frerichs, Ernest DeNeui, Dick Gelder Jr. and Elmer Finke.

Mrs. Muller was born September 22, 1880, and passed away on March 24, 1962, after having reached the age of 81 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Mrs. Gertie Muller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Saathoff, was born Sept. 22, 1880, in Eastfriesland, Germany. She came to this country at the age of 14 years.

On Oct. 4, 1899, she was married to Chris Muller in the St. Paul's Evang. Lutheran church, northeast of Wellsburg. They began farming northwest of Wellsburg. In February of 1952 they retired and moved to Wellsburg.

She was a member of this church and a longtime member of the United Lutheran Church Women. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 4, 1949.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 12, 1958; one daughter, Mary, Mrs. John Freese, in 1928; 2 sons in infancy; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include one daughter and one son, Mrs. Lawrence Bolhuis of Cedar Falls and Chris Muller Jr. of Wellsburg. Also six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
