Mrs. John Ascher Dies Suddenly Near Greene
Mrs. John Ascher died quite suddenly at her home on a farm near Greene, Iowa, at 11 o'clock Sunday night. She suffered an apoplectic stroke at 5:30 Sunday afternoon from which she was unable to recover. She had been in good health up to the time that she was stricken. She would have been 41 years old had she lived until the 24th of December.
Mrs. Ascher's maiden name was Martha Harms. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ibe Harms. She was born on a farm near Wellsburg and grew up there. About 20 years ago she was married to John Ascher. The couple started housekeeping on a farm near Wellsburg and lived here ten years. After that they moved to a farm near Grundy Center where they lived two years. From there they moved to a farm near Greene.
Surviving are the husband, two daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. Eldon Houser, who with her husband lives on a farm near Greene, and Harley and Merna who are at home. Other relatives are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ibe Harms, two brothers, Norman and Alvin Harms, and two sisters, Mrs. Dick DeNeui and Mrs. Ernest DeNeui from Wellsburg and vicinity.
Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Valley church at Greene Wednesday afternoon and burial was in a nearby cemetery.
