Mrs. Henry Neessen Died Thursday; Funeral Monday

Mrs. Henry Neessen died last Thursday at her home in Wellsburg following a long illness. Three years ago she fell and broke her hip. She never recovered from this injury and her health declined gradually from that time. She was confined to her bed nearly continually during the past three months.

Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock and later at the Lutheran church of Shiloh township with the local pastor, Rev. Heinrich, officiating. Rev. Wm. Landsiedel assisted at the service.

Mrs. Neessen was 79 years old on the 4th of last August. She was born in Mecklenburg, Germany. She came to this country when she was 16 years of age and located in Chicago where she was married to Henry Neessen in 1881. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Neessen moved to Wellsburg where they made their home continually. Mr. Neessen died 17 years ago.

Mrs. Neessen was the mother of four children. Three of them are living. They are Mrs. Henry Geerdes and Amanda Neessen of Wellsburg and Mrs. George Doyen from Pipestone, Minn. There are two surviving brothers, John and Herman Runge of Gary, S.D. There are nine grandchildren.

There was a very large attendance at the funeral services. Pallbearers were George A. Geerdes, Miner Haack, Herman Kaster, Niel O'Kones, Fred Wubbens, and Ed Meyer.

Relatives from a distance who were here at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Runge from Gary, S.D., Mrs. George Doyen, Pipestone, Mrs. Ida Munn, Mrs. Sophie McCarron and children, Donald and Grace from Chicago, Mrs. F. Kruger, Grundy Center, and Mrs. Geo. Steen, Allendorf.
