Funeral Thursday For Dick Weichers

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Doyen Funeral Home and later at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church for Dick Weichers, 80, longtime Wellsburg area resident.

Rev. Eric A. Biedermann officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Weichers had been in failing health for some time, and passed away suddenly at his home Sunday evening, April 8, of a heart attack.

Casket bearers were Raymond G. Weichers, Donald Weichers, John Weichers, Joe Jurgens, Jerry Jurgens and George Hoodjer. Special music for the service was provided by soloist Eldon Harms and Mrs. Henry Maas was organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. William Schmidt and Miss Marcella Neessen.

Obituary
Dick Weichers, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weichers, was born on May 30th, 1881, in Terre Haute, Indiana. At an early age he moved to Aplington.

On April 7, 1903 he was married to Malena Molendorp in Franklin county. They first lived in Aplington, then on several farms in Grundy county. In 1952 they retired and moved to Wellsburg.

He made profession of his faith in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on April 7, 1953.

Those he leaves to mourn his passing away are his wife Malena, 7 daughters and 5 sons; (Anna) Mrs. Richard Rindels of Bristow, (Grace) Mrs. John Freese of Holland; John Weichers of Wellsburg; Conrad Weichers of Wellsburg; (Rena) Mrs. Harm Huisman of Buffalo Center; (Nettie) Mrs. Dick D. Huisman of Wellsburg; (Edna) Mrs. Paul Kreb of Waterloo; Harold Weichers of Wellsburg; (Leona) Mrs. Frances Hopkins of Morrison; Lester Weichers of Dewar; Dale Weichers of Holland; Mildred Weichers at home. Also 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
