Frederick Tjaden Of Stout Is Dead

Frederick George Tjaden, son of Jurgen and Amke Saathoff Tjaden, was born on December 5, 1895 at Lubbertsfehn, Germany. He came to America in 1914 to the Wellsburg vicinity.

Mr. Tjaden was united in marriage with Miss Gesina Flesner on January 18, 1923 at the Flesner home near Buck Grove. The family farmed in the Aplington, Parkersburg, and Clarksville communities until they retired and moved to the present Tjaden home in Stout in 1966.

He had been failing in health for about a year and passed away at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo on Friday evening, June 13th, at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 8 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife, Gesina, two daughters, Elma, (Mrs. Fred Marks) of Caledonia, Illinois, and Helena (Mrs. Harold Rindels) of Wellsburg, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; also surviving is one brother Aljet Tjaden in Germany.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, June 17th, at the Stout Reformed Church with Rev. Harlan Nyhof, moderator of the church, officiating. Interment was made in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery near Wellsburg.
