Funeral Friday At Local Church For Mrs. Louise Koch

Mrs. Louise Koch passed away Tuesday, December 27, 1966, around 8:00 a.m. at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital due to complications of a stroke. She had entered the hospital on December 16th for treatment. She reached the age of 86 years and 29 days.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, December 30, 1966 at 1:00 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and later at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Eric Biedermann was officiating clergyman.

Two selections were sung by a men's quartet. Willard Ross, Dennis L. Huisman, Eldon Harms and Darrell Koch accompanied by Mrs. Frank Meyeraan Jr., organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. James DeNeui and Mrs. Louie Wulf. Pall bearers were Don Siefken, Ralph DeVries, Dallas Koch, Carl Giesking, William F. Koch, and I. J. Harms. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Senne (nee Louise Giesking) in Germany on November 28, 1880. In 1884 she and her family came to America, and settled on a farm in Grundy County. They lived on several farms in this area and then moved to a farm near Woden in Kossuth County. She attended the rural school in the Woden area. On February 18, 1902, she was united in marriage to Henry Koch at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woden. Following their marriage they lived with his parents for one year, and then moved to a farm in Shiloh Township north of Wellsburg. This union was blessed with 10 children. Her husband passed away in March of 1928.

Mrs. Koch was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woden in 1897. She later transferred to the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wellsburg. She was a long time member of the Lutheran Women and was active as long as her health permitted. She was a charter member of the Amvets Auxiliary.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, her husband in 1928, 3 sons, Henry who passed away in 1937; Fred who passed away in 1959; William who passed away in 1961; 1 grandson, Donald Lathrop, and two brothers, Ernest and William Senne.

She is survived by 3 daughters and 4 sons, Dick Koch of Wellsburg, (Louise) Mrs. Carlos Lathrop of Oskaloosa, (Helena) Mrs. Alfred Krull of Wellsburg, Herman J. Koch of Wellsburg, Chris Koch of Holland, Ernest Koch of Wellsburg, (Lorraine) Mrs. James Williams of Victor, 12 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Harringa of Titonka, 2 brothers, Dick W. Senne of Woden and Chris Senne of Thompson.
