Funeral Saturday For Richard Harms At St. Paul Church

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Richard Harms, 21, of Ackley. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

He died Wednesday afternoon at 3:40 p.m. at the University hospital in Iowa City following an illness. He was born on February 26, 1948 in Butler County, Iowa and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Harms. The deceased grew up in the Allison community and lived here until age sixteen when he moved with his family to Ackley. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his parents, also two sisters, Diane and Doris of Ackley, six brothers: Dennis of Eldora, David, Robert, Kevin, Kent, Keith all of Ackley. Other survivors are his great-grandmother, Mrs. Martin Reiks of Aplington, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Berends of Parkersburg, and his paternal grandfather, William Harms.

The Rev. Donald Brown was officiating pastor at the funeral services. Mrs. Eldon Harms was soloist at the service. John Irven Harms was organist. Pall bearers were Bernard Kruger, Paul Jungling, Gerald Janssen, Dennis Schipper, Larry Schipper, and Jack Knott.
