Funeral Monday At Local Church For Mrs. Doyen

Funeral services for Mrs. Elwood Doyen were held on Monday, Dec. 2, 1974, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Clarence Alexander was officiating clergyman. Eldon Harms was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Frank Meyeraan, Jr., organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Harley Freese and Mrs. Herman J. Eckhoff. Pall bearers were Kenneth Lindaman, Richard Ross, Vernon Penning, Elmer Fritzel, John Ringena and Dick Gelder, Jr. Interment was made in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery.

Mrs. Doyen passed away at 8:07 Friday morning, November 29, 1974, at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She had been taken to this hospital for treatment of a lingering illness which had inflicted her the last four and one half years of her life. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 42 years, 3 months and 5 days.

She was born Donna Mae Etjen on August 24, 1932, on a farm north of Wellsburg, located in Shiloh township, the daughter of Lee and Jennie (Maas) Etjen. She received her formal education in the Wellsburg Community Schools and was a member of the graduating class of 1949. On April 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Elwood Doyen. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Wellsburg and to this union was blest the birth of two daughters.

Donna was baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, being baptized on February 26, 1933, and confirmed on April 14, 1946. Throughout her life she was a very active member of the St. Paul's congregation and exhibited a special interest and talent in the choral aspects of her church. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of school and community activities, and as long as her health permitted she was an active member of the LCW, Amvet Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband; two daughters: (Ginny), Mrs. Ralph Haupt of Grundy Center; Miss Julie Doyen of Des Moines; one sister: (Janice), Mrs. Neil Okones Jr. of Traer; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Etjen of Wellsburg and many other relatives and friends.
