Services Held Thursday For Chris Muller

Funeral services for Chris Muller were held Thursday afternoon, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church northeast of Wellsburg. Pastor Clarence Alexander was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Elwood Doyen was soloist. Organist was Mrs. Frank Meyeraan Jr. Flower attendants were Mrs. Josephine Finke and Mrs. Jack Deters. Pall bearers were Herman DeVries, Jack Deters, Jakie G. Lindaman, Roy deNeui, Ernest deNeui and Ernest Koch. Interment was made in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Chris Muller passed away around 9 o'clock on Monday evening, April 2 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Extended Care Center in Grundy Center, following a lingering illness. He had been taken to the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls on March 22 and then transferred to Grundy Center on March 27th. He reached the age of 64 years, 8 months and 19 days.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh township, northwest of Wellsburg on July 13, 1908, the son of Chris and Gertie (Saathoff) Muller, Sr. He attended the rural school in the area. On November 3, 1941 he was united in marriage to Miss Esther Harrenstein. Following their marriage they made their home on a farm near Wellsburg. In 1963 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg.

He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wellsburg.

Those preceding him in death were: his parents, one sister, (Mary), Mrs. John Freese, and two brothers in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, one sister, (Rena), Mrs. Lawrence Bolhuis of Cedar Falls and many nieces and nephews.
