Frank Meyeraan Sr., Services Held Tuesday

Frank Meyeraan, Sr., 75, of Wellsburg, passed away at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center on Saturday, August 5.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg, on Tuesday, August 8, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Richard L. Dowling officiated the service.

Eldon Harms sang "One Day At A Time," and "How Great Thou Art." He was accompanied by Sheryl Harms, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Grandsons serving as casket bearers were Jerry Oberender, Jim Oberender, Randy Murra, Kory Meyeraan, Justin Crocheck, Matthew Scholl, Kendall Meyeraan and Lance Spieker.

Grandsons serving as honorary casket bearers were Jason Crocheck, Kevin Oberender, Steve Oberender, Neilan Oberender, Chad Scholl, Curtis Murra and Marlyn Murra.

Ushers were Ralph DeVries and Bernard Brower. Mary Phillips and Edith Murra were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Frank Meyeraan Sr. was born October 9, 1913, at Ashton, the son of Harm and Rinstena Vanderwerf Meyeraan. He grew up in the Grundy county area and attended the Grundy Center school system thru the 10th grade.

On February 16, 1932, Frank was united in marriage to Lydia Marie Harms at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. They farmed around the Hubbard and Wellsburg area and in 1982, they moved to Wellsburg.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, one step-brother, and two step-sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia; three sons, Vernon, of Hubbard, Frank Jr., of Wellsburg, and Gary, of rural Wellsburg; six daughters, Rosella (Mrs. Lyle) Oberender, Jewell, JoAnn Meyeraan, Wellsburg, Hariet (Mrs. Clarence) Murra, Parkersburg, Charlene (Mrs. Raymond) Crocheck, Boone, Leona (Mrs. Lowell) Spieker, Farmer City, ILL, and Kayleen (Mrs. Bill) Scholl, of Carlisle; one brother, Carl Meyeraan, of Waterloo; one sister, Gertrude Bottorff, Dubuque; one step-sister, Mrs. Tom Clarey, Charter Oak; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home of Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
