Elsie Ascher Services Held

Elsie Ascher, 80, passed away at her home in Parkersburg on Sunday, November 18.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. Rev. Richard Dowling officiated.

Casket bearers were Kelly Harken, Randal Harden, Robert Meinders, Jack Amble, Eric Meinders and Ryan Amble.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Elsie Ascher, daughter of Henry and Annie Siebrandts Lutterman, was born July 30, 1910, in Wellsburg. She attended school in Wellsburg.

On August 23, 1928, Elsie was united in marriage to Henry Ascher in the Parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. They farmed in the Wellsburg and Parkersburg vicinity until they moved to their present home in 1969.

Elsie enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, sewing, crocheting, making afghans, and she helped her husband in the Parkersburg Shoe Shop for eight years.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry; her daughter, LeAnn Harken; one great-granddaughter, Sara Johnson; her parents; and one sister, Helen Johns.

Elsie is survived by her son, Bud Ascher, Round Lake, IL; two daughters, Eleanor, Mrs. Harvey Peters, Parkersburg, and Linda, Mrs. James Riebeth, Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister Grace Ulfers, Portage, WI; and one brother, Herbert Lutterman of Pensacola, FL.

The Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
