Elaine Koch Services Held

Elaine (Hostetter) Koch passed away Tuesday, December 14, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes, having attained the age of 72 years.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 17, at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Honorary pallbearer was Richard Anderson. Pallbearers were Paul Koch, Terry Town, Mitchell Koch, Larry Koch, Allen Krull and Darrell Koch.

A memorial fund has been established.

She was born February 27, 1921, in Grundy County to William and Lillian Hostetter. She received her education from the Grundy Center High School in 1939. After graduating from high school she traveled with her parents in the Southwestern part of the United States.

On January 22, 1949, Elaine was united in marriage to Ernest Koch in Yuma, Arizona. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Colfax Township, rural Holland for two years and then worked for Herman Iblings for two years. In 1953, they farmed on the Koch home place until they moved to Wellsburg to make their new home. This union was blessed with one son and two daughters.

Elaine was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and Am Vets Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the Pepper Club on Monday evenings in Holland. She was baptized in the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1982; her parents; two sisters; and a foster brother.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Koch of Wellsburg; two daughters, Janice Roe (Gerald) of Eldora and Marcia Miller (Scot) Ackley; one sister, Lenore Anderson; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
