Ted Harms Services Held

Ted Harms, 76, of Wellsburg, died Thursday, July 1, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church northeast of Wellsburg with burial in the church cemetery.

Ted was born August 31, 1916, in Grundy County the son of William and Dora Buss Harms. He attended the Wellsburg Country School.

He married Irene Freese on April 9, 1942. She preceded him in death. He later married Doris Hess on September 1, 1991 at the Alice Church of God.

Ted had farmed all his life and retired in 1978. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, served on the church board, and was a member of the Wellsburg Community Club.

Besides his wife Doris, Ted is survived by 4 step-daughters, Shirley Hogan and her husband Jerry of West Bend, WI, Margaret Snyder of Madison, WI, Carla Sloan and her husband Harold of West Allis, WI, and Jane Reents of her husband Richard of Wauconda, IL; one brother, Elmer Harms of Jefferson; three sisters, Lena Freese and Mary Stahl of Wellsburg, and Mabel Janssen of Reinbeck; 10 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene; and 4 brothers, Ebe, Dick, Willie and Alfred Harms.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
