Donald D. Weichers, 63, of Greenbank, WA, died of a heart ailment at his winter home in Thousand Palms, CA.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of rural Wellsburg.

Mr. Weichers was born in Wellsburg to Conrad and Mabel Maas Weichers on January 20, 1935. He married Evelyn Newgaard in San Diego, CA on June 18, 1960.

Donald graduated from Iowa State University in 1957 with a civil engineering degree. He pursued his career in the aircraft industry working for Convair in San Diego and the Missile Division in Cheyenne, WY. He was a structures engineer for Boeing Aircraft for 32 years and was involved in the development of planes from the 707 to the 777. Before his retirement in 1994 he spent five years in Philadelphia, PA, in the helicopter division working on the V-22 or Osprey.

He is preceded in death by his father, Conrad Weichers.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn, his mother, Mabel Weichers; sister, Beverly Kay and husband Vern VanHeiden of Wellsburg; brother, Clifford C. and Judy Weichers of Woodenville, WA, nieces, nephews and their families, and a host of friends.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
