Gertie DeVries, 84, died August 28 at Allen Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were August 30 at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel. Burial was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Gertie was born November 26, 1917, near Holland, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Muller) DeVries. She lived in that area until 1967 when she moved to the Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls. She worked as a housekeeper for the home until her retirement.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Louise DeVries of Grundy Center; one niece; one nephew; five great-nephews and nieces; and four great-great-nephews and nieces.

Gertie was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Ralph DeVries.
