Services Sat. For Elmer C. Dieken

Funeral services for Elmer C. Dieken, 58, will be held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, Holland. Rev. Gene Straatmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Colfax cemetery.

The public may call at the Dike Funeral Chapel from 7:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 27 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, at which time the casket will be taken to the church for viewing prior to the services. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer Dieken passed away early last Monday evening at the Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls. He had worked his usual day at the Dike Oil Co. until mid-afternoon when he quite suddenly and unexpectedly began to feel ill. He was taken to the hospital and passed away shortly thereafter.

Elmer Dieken was born Nov. 3, 1910 in Lincoln Township, the son of Jurgen H. and Whilimina Dieken. He was married to Marlys Claassen on Jan. 21, 1938, in Grundy Center. He farmed for a time in the Dike area, and for the past eight years had been employed at the Dike Oil Co. He was a member of the Colfax Center Church and served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee.

Survivors include his widow, Marlys; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Dixie) Lindeman of Marshalltown and Mrs. Gary (Marcia) Andersen of Dike; one son, Michael, at home; four brothers, Hiram of rural Grundy Center, LaVern of Holland, Rev. Glenn of Traer and Irvin of rural Holland; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ella) Graham of Wheaton, Illinois and Mrs. James (Anna) Griffith of East Chicago, Indiana and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
