Funeral Monday At Colfax Church For Mrs. De Neui
Funeral services for Mrs. Lee DeNeui, 58, of Grundy Center, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Rev. Gene Straatmeyer officiated the service.
Mrs. DeNeui died at 1 a.m. Saturday at the family home in Grundy Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. DeNeui, the former Gertrude Abels, was born March 18, 1910, in Colfax township, the daughter of John J. and Kate Abels.
She was married to Lee DeNeui on March 13, 1929, at the home of her parents by the Rev. J. E. Drake. The couple farmed in Grundy county until four years ago when they moved to Grundy Center.
Mrs. DeNeui was formerly a member of the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church, and at the time of her death was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, which she had served faithfully for many years.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Phyllis DeNeui, at home, and Jean, Mrs. Kenneth Remer, of Ackley; also two grandchildren, Beth Remer and Timothy Jon Remer. Also surviving are two brothers, Jake Abels of Holland, and Harold Abels of Grundy Center.
She was preceded by her parents, two infant sisters, one infant brother, and brother, Lewis Abels.
