Funeral Friday For Mrs. John J. Abels At Bethany Church

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Bethany Presbyterian Church at Grundy Center for Mrs. John J. Abels, 84, who died early Tuesday at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient about 12 hours.

Burial will be in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church cemetery, northwest of Holland.

Mrs. Abels, the former Carrie Kruse was born March 18, 1883, at Forreston, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Konraad Kruse.

She came to Grundy county with her parents, and lived in Colfax township. She was united in marriage to John J. Abels on November 29, 1905. The couple farmed in Palermo, Lincoln and Colfax townships before they retired and moved to Grundy Center on April 1, 1942. Mr. Abels died October 13, 1946.

Mrs. Abels was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, and was also an honorary member of the Woman's Association of the church.

Survivors include two sons, Jacob Abels of Holland and Harold Abels of Grundy Center, a daughter, Mrs. Lee DeNeui, Grundy Center, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three infant children, a son, Lewis, three brothers, four sisters, and two half-brothers.
