John Stahl Died Wednesday

John Stahl, who resided in Grundy county all of his life, died last Wednesday at his home northwest of Holland. Death came quite suddenly following a heart attack. He was 69 years old.

The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center where arrangements were made. Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Rev. Gene Straatmeyer officiated. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mr. Stahl was born Sept. 21, 1896. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Stahl and he grew up on the Colfax township farm. He was a veteran of World War I.

He was inducted into the Army Sept. 6, 1918, and was discharged Jan. 22, 1919.

On January 24, 1923, John Stahl and Martha Franken were married. They resided on a Colfax township farm during their married life. She died August 6, 1955. Mr. Stahl continued to farm until five years ago, when he retired.

He was a member of the Colfax Presbyterian church.

Survivors include one son, Calvin of Aplington; one daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Norma Jean) Terfehn of Holland; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Harm Stahl of Grundy Center and Fritz Frerichs of Santa Monica, Calif.; three half-brothers, Bernard, Herman and Edwin, all of Wellsburg; two half-sisters, Mrs. Al Bartling of Hackensack, Minn., and Mrs. C. C. Nederhoff of Wellsburg.
