Mrs. Susie Tjepkes Dies Suddenly At Her Residence

Mrs. Albert Tjepkes, 79, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack at her home in Grundy Center Monday afternoon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jerry Van Curler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Tjepkes, the former Susie Andreessen was born August 31, 1893, at Holland, the daughter of Andrew and Reinstra Meents Andreessen.

She married Albert Tjepkes on March 9, 1921, at the Colfax Center church, and the couple farmed in Colfax township until January, 1955, when they moved to Grundy Center.

Mr. Tjepkes passed away on March 13, 1962.

She was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, and was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society.

Survivors are one son, Arnold, rural Holland; two daughters, Phyllis, Mrs. Siebo Jansen, Grundy Center, and Miss Ima Jean Tjepkes, Cedar Falls; one brother, Paul Andreessen, Grundy Center; one sister, Fannie, Mrs. Dick Claassen, Grundy Center; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and two sisters.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
