Services Tuesday For A. J. Kruger

Services were Tuesday afternoon for Albert J. Kruger, 81, at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Colfax Center cemetery. He passed away Friday afternoon at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Rev. David Dupee officiated, assisted by E. H. Buschman.

He was born December 19, 1889, in Colfax township, Grundy county, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Kruger. He was married to Lena Wolthoff December 28, 1911, near Reinbeck.

They farmed in Colfax township, and in 1936, moved to Fern where he owned and operated a hardware store, until it was destroyed by fire in 1949.

Mrs. Kruger died April 23, 1959. He continued to make his home in Fern. He is survived by one son, Orlen of Fern; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Anona) Arends of Reinbeck; Mrs. Kenneth (Birdine) Pruisner, of Holland; and Mrs. Roy (Marlys) Klinehart, of Cedar Falls; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, five brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral arrangements were made by Engelkes-Abels Funeral home.
