Rites Wednesday For Rev. E. O. Dirks

Services were Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian church for Rev. Evert O. Dirks, who passed away Friday afternoon at his home at Chippewa Falls, Wis. Burial was in the Colfax Center cemetery.

Rev. Dirks was born in Lincoln township, Grundy county, December 2, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dirks. He attended rural school and the Academy at Dubuque University in 1917, and from the Dubuque seminary in 1920. He was awarded the Doctor of Christian Service degree in 1957.

He was married to Emma Hepperle, June 3, 1920, in Dubuque. He served as pastor of churches in North Dakota, Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. For the past 14 years, he has lived in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his widow, three sons and one daughter, Robert W. and Donald A., both of Chippewa Falls; Richard A. of Gillett, Wis.; and Mrs. Ronald (Charlotte) Grifin, of Edgerton, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Venenga, Mrs. Tena Weseman, Mrs. Emma Weseman, and Mrs. Ed (Jeanette) Heerts, all of Grundy Ctr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Services were also held at the First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls, Monday at 10 a.m. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of Grundy Center arrangements.
