Jerry Boldt passed away on Tuesday, July 28th at the Parkview Nursing Home, Waterloo, after a long illness.

He was born March 15, 1894, in Holland, Iowa, the son of Berend and Peterka (Peil) Boldt. On July 16, 1924 he married Bess Wylam of Plainfield, Iowa. There are two sons, E. Dean of Nenoir, North Caroline and Don of Cheshite, England. Jerry graduated from the Highland Park College of Pharmacy with the class of 1917.

Following two years of service in the army during World War I, he owned and operated drug stores in Holland and Rockford before coming to Jesup in 1929 where he was in business for five years before being appointed Postmaster. He held this office for 30 years when he retired in Aug. of 1964. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Jesup and served as elder for some years, charter member of the Lions' Club, member of the Masonic Lodge and Pump-Sheer American Legion Post.

His survivors are his wife, Bess, the two sons, one granddaughter and four grandsons, three sisters, (Dena) Mrs. John A. Meyer, Freda and Cathryn Boldt, and seven nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Benjamin, and one sister, Reka, Mrs. Peter J. Meyer.
