Rachel Junker Rites Friday At Colfax Church

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, January 20, 1978 at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church at Holland for Mrs. Rachel Junker. Rev. Jerry VanCurler was officiating pastor at the services. Two selections were sung by the Kruger Sisters. Mrs. Raymond Hinders was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Tillie Ohling and Mrs. Grace Heronimus. Pall bearers were Donald Stahl, Carroll Stahl, Clarence Klunder, Roger Hook, Larry Riekena and Lowell Riekena. Interment services were held in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Doyen Funeral was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rachel Junker, daughter of Joe H. and Meemke (Meyer) Meester, was born on February 9, 1896, in Palermo Township near Grundy Center. On February 23rd, 1921, she was united in marriage to John R. Junker, at the home of her parents. The Lord blessed this marriage with 4 children.

Mr. and Mrs. Junker were engaged in farming on his parents farm for 27 years. In 1947, they moved to their farm near Aplington. Her husband passed away on April 4, 1961. In the spring of 1966, she moved to Wellsburg to make her home.

Mrs. Junker was a long time member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church having made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on August 1, 1920. She passed away very suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 1978, in Grundy Center due to an apparent heart attack, having reached the age of 81 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, her husband, a grandson, Steven Junker in 1955, an infant sister and 3 sisters.

Surviving her are: 2 daughters and 2 sons, Raymond Junker of Ackley; Mrs. Lawrence (Marian) Paterni of Austinville, Vernon Junker of Evansdale; Mrs. Rueben (JoAnn) Hippen of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 great-granddaughters; 4 sisters, Mrs. Harm (Mattie) Stahl of Grundy Center; Mrs. Bernard (Harmke) Stahl of Wellsburg; Mrs. Harm G. (Martha) Hook of Holland; Mrs. Esther Riekena of Wellsburg as well as many other relatives and friends.
