John Meyer Services Held

John J. Meyer, of Holland, passed away Tuesday, August 24 at his home in Holland of natural causes having attained the age of 70 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry C. Hoop officiating.

Pallbearers were George (Junior) Meyer, Bernard Harms, Mike Ravn, Bernerd H. Kruger Jr., Vernon Kruger and Verne Eberline.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

John was born December 27, 1922 to Henry and Grace (Doeden) Meyer in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County. He attended school in Grant Township. On January 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Onieta B. Kruger at the Colfax Center Presbyterian church parsonage in rural Holland.

John was employed by Farmland Foods of Iowa Falls. He retired in May of 1985.

He was preceded in death by his wife Onieta on February 26, 1985, his parents, and by one sister, Ann Osborn.

Survivors include a son, James (Jim) and wife Patricia of Clive; a daughter, Marlene and husband Michael Aalfs of Gladbrook; four grandchildren, Chris Meyer of Ames, Nick Meyer of Clive, and Erin and Robyn Aalfs of Gladbrook; and one brother, George Meyer of Cedar Falls.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
