Donald Janssen Services Held
Donald Wayne Janssen of Holland, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 3, 1996 at the Iowa University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, following a lengthy illness, having attained the age of 43 years, 2 months, and 18 days.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 6, 1996, at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa, with the Reverend Larry C. Hoop officiating. Burial followed in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Dingel, Steve Kannegieter, Lynn Kruger, Charlie Roth, Jon Towley, and Keith Wills.
A memorial has been established.
Born November 16, 1952, in Grundy Center, Iowa, Donald was the son of Claus "Bud" and Hilda (Dirks) Janssen. He received his education in Wellsburg, where he graduated from Wellsburg High school in 1971. Donald was united in marriage to Jean Jans of Reinbeck on January 5, 1974, in Reinbeck. He was employed by Mid-Equipment in Grundy Center in the early 70's, then worked at Viking Pump in Cedar Falls for 17 years.
Donald was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and canoeing.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Matthew Dean Janssen and Sara Dana Janssen, both at home; parents, Claus and Hilda Janssen of Wellsburg; three brothers, William of Wellsburg, Robert of Holland, and Charles of Wellsburg; and one sister, Jean Anderson of Cedar Falls.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, was in charge of the professional arrangements.
