John Paul Kruger, of Grundy Center, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes. He attained the age of 90 years and six months.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial was in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery in rural Holland. Pastor Daniel C. Graham officiated. A memorial fund has been established.

John was born on Aug. 19, 1909, near Holland the son of Barney and Ora (Meents) Kruger. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Hempen on Dec. 16, 1931, in the Lincoln Center Parsonage. John farmed around Dike and Holland.

John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. John also enjoyed sports and doing mechanical work.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Byrna Kruger; one brother, K. C. (Klaus) Kruger; three sisters, Berdene Harms, Oneita Meyer and Neona Seehusen; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta; four sons and their wives, Ray and JoAnn Kruger of Cherokee, Vernon and Sharon Kruger of Grundy Center, Lee and Diane Kruger of Ackley and Jay and Sue Kruger of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard and Carrie Kruger of Holland; and a sister, Claradean Harrenstein of Holland.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
