Reka Knock Services Held
Reka Knock, 84, of Grundy Center, passed away on Sunday, March 22, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 24, at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland at 1:30 p.m. Burial followed in the Colfax Center Cemetery, rural Holland. Pastor Gary Nibbelink officiated the service. A memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers were Roger Olson, Steve and Kevin Hook, Dennis Hook, Richard Bertram and Josh Knock.
Reka Knock was born on September 10, 1913, in Holland the daughter of Ausbrand and Gepka (Van Deest) Meyer. She attended school in Holland and Grundy Center.
On November 11, 1936, she was united in marriage to Louie Hook in Grundy Center. After their marriage they farmed on their parents' farm for three years. They moved to the Fern area where they continued farming until their retirement in March of 1976. He passed away on February 12, 1980.
On June 23, 1989, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Knock at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland. They resided in Grundy Center. Throughout her life she was very active in both her church and the community.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louie Hook; son, Marlyn Hook; 1 infant daughter; her parents; and 1 brother, Marcus Meyer.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Knock of Grundy Center, daughter-in-law, Loreta Olson and husband Roger of Bettendorf; 3 grandchildren, Steven Hook of Bettendorf, Kevin Hook of Chicago, Illinois and Karla Hook of Woodbury, Minnesota; 1 brother, Eldon Meyer of Grundy Center, 1 sister, Effie Hook of Holland; step-son, Allen Knock of Waterloo; and step-daughter, Jane Boss of Council Bluffs.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
