Services Held For Gerald Pies

Gerald A. Pies died on Saturday, July 31, 1993, at his home in Conrad.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, Holland, with Rev. Larry Hoop officiating.

Sandra Simms served as organist and Dwayne and Elaine Sents were vocalists. Flower bearers were Norma Terfehn and JoAnn Junker.

Casket bearers were Gerry Grove, Arnold Ennenga, Harlan Rust, David Callahan, Cliff Wilson and Larry Viles.

Burial followed at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Holland.

Gerald was born March 1, 1928, in Ackley, the son of Mike and Wilma Rustad Pies. He attended school in Ackley.

On April 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Phyllis D. Hook at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

Gerald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict having served in Korea and Okinawa.

He was a tool and die machinist at Ritchie Industries, Conrad, retiring after 38 years in February, 1993.

Gerald was a member of the Conrad American Legion Post #681.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Connie of Des Moines; two sisters, Shirley Smeins of Earlville and Dorothy Clawson of Geneva; and two brothers, Robert of Ackley and Ralph of Warren, MI.

The Johnston Funeral home of Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
