Klaas Kruger Services Held
Klaas C. Kruger, of Holland, passed away Saturday, November 13 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of an apparent heart attack, having attained the age of 79 years and 11 months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry C. Hoop and Pastor Ray Kruger officiating.
Pallbearers were Norman Boike, Vernon Kruger, Bernard Harms, Dean Harrenstein, Verne Eberline and Herk Prostein.
A memorial fund has been established.
Klaas Christian Kruger was born to Barney and Ora (Meents) Kruger on December 14, 1913, in Colfax Township, Holland. He received his education at Colfax #1 country school.
He was united in marriage to Elsie Harrenstein, daughter of Ben and Alice (Ostwald) Harrenstein, on December 14, 1933 by the Reverend J. E. Drake, pastor of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in Holland. He enjoyed fishing, watching softball and his family.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Clarice; his parents; three sisters, Berdena Harms, Oneita Meyer, and Neona Seehusen; and one brother in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie; one son, Eldon and wife Linda Kruger of Holland; three daughters, Bernita and husband Richard Lamfers of Grundy Center, Karen Kruger of Holland, and Jean and husband Kevin Ralston of Holland; 8 grandchildren: Kevin Kruger and wife Sherry, Carl, Lee, Lance, and Jennifer Kruger, Marc and Christine Lamfers, and Mitchell Ralston; and two great-grandchildren: Levi and Hannah Kruger; two brothers, John of Grundy Center and Bernerd Kruger of Holland; and one sister, Claradean Harrenstein of Holland.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
