Milf Meyer Services Held

Milf "Kelly" Meyer passed away Wednesday, November 18 at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center having attained the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 4 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 21 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry C. Hoop officiating.

Pallbearers were Joe Junker, Dennis Hook, Jake Hemmen, Kenneth Harken, George Schmidt, and Verne Eberline.

Burial followed at the church cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Milf was born October 14, 1901 in Colfax Township, Grundy County, the son of Milf and Lena (Kramer) Meyer. He received his education in Colfax Center Township and in Franklin County.

On December 2, 1929, Milf was united in marriage to Dena Penning at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. Milf and Dena farmed in Grundy county, retiring in 1962. Milf then worked in construction for Harvey Sietsema until 1966.

He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, serving over the years as Trustee, Deacon, and Elder. Milf enjoyed the Men's Fellowship Group. He liked to travel, work puzzles, and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Leona Everts; his parents; three brothers, Harm, Christ, and Lambert; one sister, Annie Meyers; one half-brother, Tom; and three half-sisters, Verda Boelman, Minnie Meyer, and Hiska Abbas.

Survivors include his wife, Dena of Grundy Center; 1 son-in-law, Harold Everts of Grundy Center; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Amos Meyer of Harris; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Venenga of Hampton; and numerous nieces and nephews; 1 sister-in-law, Mrs. Tom Meyer of Ackley; and 1 brother-in-law, Mr. George Abbas of Hampton.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
