Jennie Knock Services Held

Jennie Knock passed away July 31 at the Long Term Care Unit, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center, having attained the age of 98 years.

Funeral services were held August 2 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor Larry C. Hoop officiated.

Pallbearers were LuVerne Bakker, Norman Meester, Delmar Meester, Ronald Flater, Douglas Flater, and Dean Bakker.

Jennie was born October 7, 1892, in Forreston, Illinois, the daughter of Eilert and Trena (Peters) Eckhoff. She attended Grundy County country schools. On February 7, 1912, she was united in marriage to George Knock in Grundy county. Jennie and George farmed for many years in Grundy County.

She was a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland and was a charter member of the Women's Missionary Society. Jennie was very devoted to her family. She loved all kinds of flowers, reading, sewing, and crocheting.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, George in 1960; two brothers, Allerd and John Eckhoff; five sisters, Trena Osterman, Reka Miller, Kate Ennenga, Dena Groen, and Ella Wildeboer; two sons-in-law, Menno Bakker and Gerald Meester; and one nephew, Bernard Groen.

Survivors include three daughters, Lenora Bakker and Irene Meester, both of Grundy Center, and Mrs. Melvin (Marian) Flater, of Holland; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
