Chris Koch Services Held

Chris Koch, 80, of Wellsburg, passed away on Sunday, May 24, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg, with burial following in the Colfax Center Cemetery, rural Holland. Full military graveside rites were conducted by the Wellsburg Amvets Post 91 and American Legion Post No. 213.

Pallbearers were Gerald Koch, Paul Koch, Jerry Roe, Allen Krull, David Siefken, and Scott Miller.

A memorial fund has been established.

Chris was born on February 23, 1918, in Grundy County the son of Henry and Louise (Senne) Koch. He attended country school at Shiloh #2 in Grundy County. Chris farmed in Grundy County all his life and served in the Army for four years. He was united in marriage with Marian Siefken on February 14, 1948, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They retired and moved into Wellsburg in 1982. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and former member of the Amvets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, William, Henry Jr., Fred, Dick, Ernest and Herman; and 1 sister, Helena Krull.

Survivors include his wife, Marian of Wellsburg; son, Mitchel of Wellsburg, daughter, Janet Jones of Waterloo; 2 sisters, Louise Lathrop and husband Carlos of Oskaloosa and Lorraine Williams and husband James of Millersburg; and 4 grandchildren.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
