Harlan E. Kruse, 71, of Tama, died at the Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center, on Monday, May 24, 1999 of cancer.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Burial followed in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Harlan was born March 13, 1928 in Grundy Center the son of Conrad E. and Elizabeth Rebecca (Van Tiger) Kruse. On November 25, 1997 he was united in marriage to Tonya Spark in Tama. Harlan worked as a cattle buyer and truck driver for various companies.

Harlan is survived by his wife Tonya of Marshalltown; two sons and their wives: Kyle and Kelly Kruse of Holland and Kurt and Jennifer Kruse of Grundy Center; a daughter, Pam Billerbeck of Gladbrook; a brother, Dean Kruse of Cedar Falls; and five grandchildren.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
