Harvey George Getting, 85, of Grundy Center, died March 1 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Memorial services were March 8 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Harvey was born April 6, 1918, in Grundy County, the son of Fred F. and Anna (Meyer) Getting. Harvey attended country school up to the 8th grade. Harvey was a WWII veteran serving in the Army. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Buskohl on September 11, 1941. The couple farmed near Grundy Center. The couple moved to Grundy Center in 1976 and Harvey retired a few years later. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church, where he served as a church Trustee for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clarence Getting; and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a brother, Virgil Getting and his wife, Iva Dell of Holland; a sister, Ethel Schoolman and her husband Ed of Holland; along with nieces and nephews, Ben Buskohl of Bloomer, WI, Jeanne Buskohl of North Hollywood, CA, Mark and wife Nancy Buskohl of rural Grundy Center, Illa Wiersman and husband Dale of Holland, MI, Harley Getting and wife Jeri of Hibbing, MN, Jim Getting and wife Brenda of Grundy Center; great nieces and nephews, Nathan and Sara, Todd and Keri, Galen and Kathy, Jim, Caleb and Philip.
