Harry Eckhoff, 82, of Wellsburg passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg with burial following in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the Ackley Presbyterian Village.
Harry was born on October 30, 1916, in rural Steamboat Rock the son of Peter and Hattie (Reuter) Eckhoff. He attended country school. On September 14, 1938, he was united in marriage with Hilda Geiken. To this union was born three children, Duane, Betty and Bev. Hilda passed away on February 25, 1982. On April 21, 1984, he was united in marriage with Esther Riekena. She passed away on January 26, 1997. Harry farmed all his life in Grundy County.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda; second wife, Esther; his parents; and one sister, Grace Geerdes.
Survivors include his son, Duane Eckhoff and wife Bev of Omaha, NE; two daughters, Betty Rozeboom and husband Glenn of Rock Valley and Bev DeJager and husband Harold of Orange City; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lena Terfehn of Aplington.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
