Mrs. J. Eygabroad, Lifelong Resident, Dies Sunday Eve
Mrs. Joe Eygabroad, 76, passed away about 11 p.m. Sunday at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Doyen Funeral Home, and at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, with Rev. Gideon Wolbrink in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Special music for the service was provided by the men's quartet consisting of Irwin Abels, Harold Lindaman, Eugene Ruter and Richard Ross. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist.
Casket bearers were Meint Bakker, John Frerichs, Dick Gelder Jr., Woodrow Lindaman, Robert E. Lindaman and Jack Deters. Serving as flower attendants were Mrs. Fred Potter and Mrs. John Frerichs.
Reka Meints was born February 8, 1888, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Meints, on a farm in German township near Ackley.
She received her education at rural schools in German and Colfax townships.
On April 9, 1913 she was united in marriage to Joe Eygabroad. The couple lived all of their married lives in the Wellsburg area, except for two years at Ackley. On April 6, 1963, Mr. and Mrs. Eygabroad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at their home.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Amelia) Hippen of Wellsburg, Mrs. Grace Schultz of Waterloo, and Mrs. Arthur (Vivian) Schultz of Ackley; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jake Meints of Grundy Center; and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Harrenstein of Wellsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Harrenstein and Miss Ella Meints.
