Mrs. Schoolman Passed Away In Hospital Friday

Mrs. Clara Schoolman, 71, passed away Friday, November 4 at the Grundy County Memorial hospital where she had been confined five days. Death was attributed to cancer. She had surgery twice in the past six months.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Holland Christian Reformed church with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial was in the Reformed church cemetery at Wellsburg. Pallbearers were Eldon Klaassen, Harlan Kruse, Wilham Halbach, Don Ennenga, Edwin Brower and Wallace Wilts. Flower attendants were Mrs. Edwin Brower and Mrs. John Rhoads. Music was provided by Mrs. Harold Schoon and LaVern Dieken accompanied by Mrs. Marley Freesman on the organ.

The deceased was born January 29, 1895 in Westerhusen, Eastfriesland, Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Gerriet Ohling. The family came to the Wellsburg vicinity in 1913. She was married to Ehne Schoolman on February 15, 1923. The couple farmed in the Wellsburg and Aplington area until 1937 when they moved to Holland. Mr. Schoolman died May 31, 1952.

Mrs. Schoolman is survived by one son, Edward of Holland, one daughter, Mrs. James (Anna Mae) Bienfang, Grundy Center, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Meta Meyer of Ackley and three brothers, Kuno and Andrew Ohling of Wellsburg, and Edgar Ohling of Eldora. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.

Mrs. Schoolman was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed church.
