Mrs. Kate Jaspers Dies Saturday In Waverly Hospital

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Kate Jaspers at 1:00 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiated.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Thomas Claassen and Mrs. John Kruse. Mrs. W. D. Murray was soloist accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen, organist.

Pall bearers were Gust Fritzel, Thomas Claassen, Asa Slifer, Fred Ruter, John Kruse, and John Graves.

Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Mrs. Jaspers passed away at St. Joseph Mercy hospital, Waverly, at 2:25 a.m., Saturday following a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 80 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Mrs. Jaspers was born Kate Venenga, the daughter of Franz and Marie Koers Venenga, near Sterling, Illinois on July 16, 1886. She received her education at Sibley.

In December 1911 she was married to Harm J. Jaspers. They farmed southeast of Wellsburg. Mr. Jaspers passed away in 1942. In 1958 Mrs. Jaspers moved to Wellsburg where she made her home until her last illness.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made confession of faith on June 17, 1945. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a Gold Star Mother, her son, Franklin, having given his life in the service of his country in New Guinea in 1942.

Those who preceded her in death were her husband, 1 son, Franklin, and 2 brothers, Harm and Frank.

She is survived by two sons Jake of Wellsburg, and LeRoy of Janesville, one daughter, Lillian, Mrs. James Nieman of Shell Rock, one brother, Otto Venenga of Brewster, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Bettenga and Mrs. Tom Dreesman, both of Holland, and 6 grandchildren.
