Mrs. D. J. Beving Longtime Resident Dies On Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. D. J. Beving were held Monday afternoon, January 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the family home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman.

Mrs. W. D. Murray was soloist, accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen, organist. Mrs. Herman DeVries and Mrs. Reka Gronewold were flower attendants.

Pall bearers were Arnold Arends, Donald Arends, Frederick Beving, LeRoy Beving, Thomas Flessner, and Wendell Lindaman.

Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. D. J. Beving, nee Lena Boomgarden, was born on Sept. 8, 1879, in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ella Boomgarden. She lived here all of her life except several years of her girlhood in Rock Rapids, Iowa, and in 1921 and 1922 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was married to Dick Beving Dec. 13, 1905. She was a faithful member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church for many years and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She reached the age of 87 years, 3 months and 21 days being called home at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 29, 1966, in the Allen Memorial Hospital after a month's illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, July 20, 1951, a daughter, Margaret in 1918, 2 sisters, Maggie Henken and Millie Williams and a brother, Weard.

Surviving her are 3 sons, John and Raymond, Wellsburg, and the Rev. Richard Beving, San Fernando, Calif., 1 daughter, Luella Beving, Ackley, 4 grandchildren, Sharon (Mrs. Wm. Lynch), Sonna and Susan Beving, and Barbara (Mrs. Dale Diamond); 3 grandsons, Dick and Douglas Beving of San Fernando, Calif., and Rex Beving. Also 1 brother, Wm. Boomgarden, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Ella Scherff of Worthington, Minn.; Anna (Mrs. Steve Wait) of Zion, Ill.; and Mrs. Minnie Pruin of Davenport, Iowa; besides many other relatives and friends.
