Former Wellsburg Man, Cornelius H. Kuper, Buried Here
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Cornelius H. Kuper, 71, of Marshalltown at the Pursel-Davis Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Glen Jaspers was in charge of services. Interment was made in the Reformed Church cemetery at Wellsburg.
Mr. Kuper, operator of the Kuper Nursing Home since 1952 died at 6:40 p.m. Friday at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines.
He was born on July 27, 1896 at Wellsburg and was the son of Harm C. and Rena DeNeui Kuper. His first marriage was to Jennie Wilts on Feb. 22, 1921. They lived on a farm northwest of Wellsburg and later moved to town. She preceded him in death in 1948.
On July 6, 1949 he was married to Mrs. Lula Edick Jaspers. They resided in Wellsburg until moving to Marshalltown where she assisted Mr. Kuper in the operation of the nursing home.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Kuper are three children, Mrs. Irene Viet of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Calvin (Mildred) Wiltfang of Grundy Center and Mrs. Kay (Lillian) Kinion of Rochelle, Ill.
Also surviving are six step-children, Mrs. Leo (Arlene) Yantis of Arvada, Colorado; the Rev. Glen Jaspers, Paul Jaspers, and Mrs. Charles (Lyona) Hannahs of Marshalltown, Mrs. Harry (Lillian) Early of Pasadena, Texas, and Mrs. Allen (Ruth) Smith of Denver, Colorado. There are 33 grandchildren.
Three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Jennie Bruns, Joe Kuper, and Mrs. William Behrends of Lennox, South Dakota, and Mrs. Ben Aukes of Wellsburg also survive. Preceding the deceased in death were his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a son.
Mr. Kuper was a member of the American Legion and a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Marshalltown. He also served on the board of trustees.
