Miss Neessen Dies, Mbr. Of Pioneer Wellsburg Family

Funeral services for Miss Amanda Neessen were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Doyen Funeral Home and 1:30 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, with Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music for the service was provided by vocalists Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman and Mrs. Elmer Ruter, while Marcella Neessen was organist.

Serving as flower attendants were Mrs. Neil O'Kones Sr. and Mrs. Janet Rademaker.

Casket bearers were George Murra, George Paterni, Thomas W. Long, Alfred Krull, Jakie Lindaman and Ray Snittjer.

Miss Neessen passed away around 1:15 Saturday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Henry A. Geerdes in Wellsburg due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 85 years, 2 months and 2 days.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., on September 16, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neessen (nee Augusta Runge). In 1883 she and her family moved to Wellsburg. She attended the Wellsburg Public School.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made Confession of her Faith in Jesus Christ on May 18, 1963. She was a charter member of the Dorcas Society of the church, and remained a member of the Ladies Guild up till the time of her passing away.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, and one sister in infancy.

Those who survive are 2 sisters, (Dena), Mrs. Henry A. Geerdes of Wellsburg, (Minnie), Mrs. George Doyen of Pipestone, Minnesota; 2 nieces, 6 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
