Alice Harrenstein, Lifelong Resident, Buried On Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Harrenstein were held on Monday at 1:15 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church.

Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman. Music was furnished by Mrs. Elmer Ruter and Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen on the organ. Mrs. Fred Potter and Mrs. Jack Deters were flower attendants.

Pall bearers were Irvin Diekman, Alfred Brower, Aeilt Terfehn, Raymond Diekman, Charles Paige and Wallace Getting. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Harrenstein passed away very suddenly Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. Tom Teasdale, in Grundy Center, due to an apparent heart attack. She reached the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 21 days.

She was born on a farm in Colfax Township east of Wellsburg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aeilt Terfehn (nee Miekka Meyer), on July 11, 1889. She attended the rural school in the area. On February 3, 1909, she was united in marriage to Herman Harrenstein.

Following their marriage they made their home near Wellsburg. They lived in the Wellsburg area all of their married life. Mr. Harrenstein passed away November 18, 1948. This union was blessed with 7 children.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having joined the latter by transfer from the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on January 25, 1945.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, 8 brothers and sisters, and a grandson in infancy.

Those left to mourn her passing are: 4 daughters and 3 sons: (Esther), Mrs. Chris Muller of Wellsburg; (Mabel), Mrs. Virgil Claassen of Wellsburg; Harris Harrenstein of Wellsburg; Alvin Harrenstein of Hampton; Dennis Harrenstein of Ackley; (Marjorie), Mrs. Tom Teasdale of Grundy Center; (LaVonne), Mrs. Tom Kruse of Ackley; 1 brother, Dick Diekman of Hampton; 1 sister, (Sarah), Mrs. Fred W. Getting of Grundy Center; 18 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends.
