Services Held For Joe Eygabroad Tuesday, April 13

Joe Eygabroad passed away around 7:30 o'clock on Saturday evening, April 10 at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of advanced age. He had been confined to the nursing home since November 3, 1969. He reached the age of 78 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiated at the service. Two duet numbers were sung by Mrs. Elmer Ruter and Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen on the organ. Pall bearers were Woodrow Lindaman, Jack Deters, Clarence Geerdes, Meint Bakker, Dick Gelder, Jr., and Jakie G. Lindaman. Interment was in the Reformed Church Cemetery.

He was born Joseph Albert Eygabroad, the son of George and Amelia (Messner) Eygabroad, on a farm in Butler County near Dumont. He attended the rural school in the area. On April 9, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Reka Meints in Wellsburg by the Rev. J. G. Thielken. Following their marriage they lived in Wellsburg. Except for living in Ackley for two years, they lived in Wellsburg all of their married life. This union was blessed with three daughters. They were permitted to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on April 6, 1963, at their home with their family and friends. Mrs. Eygabroad passed away on Sept. 27, 1964.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Grace, 7 sisters and 4 brothers.

Those who survive him are: two daughters (Amelia), Mrs. Henry Hippen of Wellsburg, (Vivian), Mrs. Arthur L. Schultz of Ackley, 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
