Wellsburg Mourns Sudden Death Of Alle Murra Friday

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, April 5, at 1 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church for Alle Murra, who passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, April 2, around 10:30 o'clock at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls where he had been admitted earlier in the evening. He reached the age of 54 years, 5 months and 15 days.

Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman and Mrs. Elmer Ruter sang two duet numbers accompanied by Marcella Neessen, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Marvin Tack and Mrs. Maynard DeBoer. Pall bearers were Marvin Tack, Maynard DeBoer, Kenneth Harken, Marlyn Meyer, Herman Van Hauen and Harm H. Krull. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh township, Grundy County, west of Wellsburg on October 17, 1916, the son of Andrew and Effie (Jaspers) Murra. He attended the Wellsburg Public School. On December 14, 1938, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Meester at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church of rural Holland. Following their marriage they lived on the Murra home place west of Wellsburg. In December of 1943 they moved to a farm in Colfax township northeast of Wellsburg where they continued to make their home. They were privileged to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 14, 1963 with their family and friends.

Alle was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on March 12, 1944, and was a member of the Mens Brotherhood of the Church. He served as the church treasurer for several years.

He had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Peoples Savings Bank in Wellsburg for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Anna, one foster daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Sienknecht of Fostoria, Iowa; two daughters, Connie and Jolene Murra, both at home; one grandson, Michael Lee Sienknecht; 5 sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Helen Ohling of Wellsburg; (Fannie), Mrs. Peter E. Ruter of Wellsburg; (Mae), Mrs. Joe Kuper of Lennox, South Dakota; (Kate), Mrs. August Haupt of Wellsburg; (Carrie), Mrs. Carl J. Nederhoff of Wellsburg; Abe Murra of Wellsburg; George Murra of Wellsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
