Funeral for Wayne Geerdes on Tuesday

Funeral services for Wayne Geerdes, 56, of Cedar Falls, were held Tuesday morning at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with the Rev. Luther Wachholz, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Mr. Geerdes died Friday at Sartori hospital of an aortic aneurism.

Mr. Geerdes was born on November 14, 1914 in Wellsburg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Geerdes. On December 19, 1940 he was married to Viola Meyer in Bethany, Mo. He was most recently employed as a machine operator at Hinson's Manufacturing Co.

Survivors include his mother, two daughters, Mrs. Michael Hileman of 1815 Grand Blvd. Waterloo, and Mrs. Charles Polley of 421 Lincoln St., four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Hook of Aplington, Mrs. Vera Ackerman of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Herman Eckhoff of Wellsburg and Mrs. Paul Slinker of rural Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, father and brother.
